Check a Four E’s Scientific pipette’s accuracy and precision against its published specification, using the gravimetric method.
How this tool works
This tool checks a Four E’s Scientific pipette’s accuracy (systematic error) and precision (random error) against its published ISO 8655-2 specification, using the gravimetric method described in ISO 8655-6.
- Select the pipette series and part number, then record the environmental conditions in your lab.
- For each of the three calibration points (100%, 50%, and 10% of the pipette’s nominal volume), dispense and weigh distilled or deionized water 3 times on a calibrated analytical balance (0.00001 g / 0.01 mg readability), and enter each weighing in grams.
- Click Calculate Results. The tool converts your weighings to volume using the density-and-buoyancy correction factor (Z-factor) for the recorded temperature, then compares the result to the pipette’s tolerance limits.
- Click Print / Save as PDF to generate a report you can print or save.

Type-testing of this pipette was evaluated in accordance with the ISO 8655-2 gravimetric method, using the ISO 8655-6 water density/buoyancy correction factor (Z-factor) for the recorded temperature at standard atmospheric pressure. Gravimetric data in grams is converted to volumetric results in microliters for distilled/deionized water. A PASS result indicates the measured systematic error and random error were within the manufacturer’s published tolerance for this part number and calibration point. This report reflects data entered by the user and is a self-verification aid; it is not an accredited (ISO/IEC 17025) calibration certificate.
